Festivals and summer go together like sprinkles and ice cream. Or maybe like chips and dip, or burgers and fries. If just reading about those great, greasy foods doesn't have you drooling yet, this will: Toronto is getting a (specifically) junk food festival.
Philip Suos, the mastermind behind the city's Mac & Cheese Fest, is bringing the Junk Food Festival to town. Specifically, he's bringing it to the Toronto Star Building at 1 Yonge Street, in the parking lot. The festival will run from September 9 to 11, so we have some time to add notches to our belts. You will be able to get in for free, but obviously the food will cost money — and trust us, it will be well worth it.
The festival will actually be a part of a multi-city competition with chefs competing for a prize of $25,000. Suos says that the foods they'll be whipping up will most likely be Epic Meal Time-esque, putting a twist on traditional North American comfort foods.
Aside from the food, you will be able to enjoy various activities including a beer lounge, ping pong, and bubble soccer.
We expect to see you there, and we promise we won't judge you for how much junk food you eat (as long as you don't judge us).
