Khiri Travel Unveils Details of Bagan to Mrauk U Trek in Myanmar

Khiri Travel has unveiled details of a Bagan to Mrauk U trek in Myanmar.

The trek from Bagan to the ancient kingdom of Mrauk U over the Chin Mountains in northwest Myanmar is a seven-day/six-night journey that involves four days of trekking (about 20km a day), boat trips, some four-wheel drive transport and basic accommodation and food in remote areas.

Along the way, Khiri Travel guests will get to swim in the famous seven-steps waterfall near Matupi, eat mohinga noodles in local markets, ascend Mt Victoria (3053m), wend along trails through forest and rice paddies, explore traditional Chin villages (one with a church), sail over rapids on the Lay Mro river, and sleep in local homes or guest houses.

"Last season, Khiri was the first to organise treks from Bagan to Mrauk U," said Edwin Briels, General Manager of Khiri Travel Myanmar. "These were fantastic experiences through beautiful scenery and remote villages where many Chin women still have traditionally tattooed faces. The journey ends with a wonderful one-and-a-half day boat trip to Mrauk U. It's a different world."

The trek costs US$1295 per person (twin sharing) and will take place: 30 October to 5 November 2016, 27 November to 3 December 2016, and 1-7 January 2017.

Group sizes in each trip will be capped at seven maximum. A single supplement of US$40 is possible for overnights in Kanpetlet and Matupi.
