According to the CDC's latest stats, at least 258 Americans have contracted mosquito-borne Zika while traveling overseas, including 18 pregnant women.
"The Department of Health is doing all the measures to prevent the spread of the Zika virus and ensure the safety and health of all the people, including tourists visiting the country", said Coloma.
As President Barack Obama made history in Cuba on Sunday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a new travel warning over the rapidly spreading Zika virus, which recently broached the shores of the island nation.
The Obama administration said that the virus, which has been deemed as a public health emergency by the World Health Organization, has not been a factor in the president's travel decisions and isn't expected to be in the future. 80 percent of the country's population "will probably get the Zika virus within a year", according to the newspaper. 40 other people in the state have submitted for tests for the virus.
The DoH reminded the public to be careful and continue to clean their surroundings which could be nests of mosquitos which carry the Zika virus, Coloma also said.
In a release announcing the new clinical weekly hours, hospital officials noted that the Center for Maternal Fetal Health had been receiving about 10 calls a day from anxious patients since the emergence of the Zika virus as a possible health threat in New York City.
The virus is spread via mosquitoes, and reported incidents of the virus in the United States have been sparse but are increasing.
The virus was first discovered in an 80-year-old man in November in Puerto Rico, a US territory.
More than 9,000 people including many soldiers have fumigated large swaths of the country in recent weeks, including homes and entire neighborhoods.
These included a baby born with a congenital infection of the virus and 115 who reported having traveled to at least one of the affected countries or who had sex with someone who had been in one of those areas.
